A collaboration between Sheffield narrative artist, Sarah Sharpe and Sheffield upholsterer, Heather Jones, from The Unique Seat Company, has resulted in the creation of some truly stunning and unique, luxurious, limited edition, scatter cushions. Heather Jones who describes herself as a “traditional upholsterer and art addict” approached Sarah Sharpe to see if she would be interested in digitally printing some of her art work onto fabric for use in an exclusive upholstery project. Collaborations with UK Artists
In 2012 The Unique Seat Company came up with an idea for an exciting new project born out of a passion for art and a love of traditional upholstery.
After meeting with Sarah Sharpe, a local Sheffield, narrative artist, who is hugely admired by The Unique Seat Company, it was decided to form a collaboration and take the idea forward.

Unique Victorian Armchair
Unique Victorian Armchair in Collaboration with Narrative Artist Sarah Sharpe The Unique Seat Company began a collaboration with local narrative artist, Sarah Sharpe several years ago. Sarah agreed to let us use several of her images and print them onto a velvet base cloth to then convert into unique, statement items of furniture and limited edition cushions. After years (literally) of searching for the perfect chair for one of Sarah’s images, we finally found one which was worthy of the image which has resulted in this truly unique Victorian armchair. We used Sarah’s image on the inside back of the chair as we wanted it to resemble an oval Victorian portrait. We then highlighted the image by placing a navy blue double piping braid around…
Another Prize for Sheffield Artist Sarah Sharpe
We are thrilled to announce that Sheffield artist Sarah Sharpe has won the Harley Prize 2015, sponsored by the Harley Foundation, with her work entitled ‘Still she haunts me…..Alice Pleasance Liddell’. Congratulations Sarah ! The Unique Seat Company have just finished upholstering an antique dressing screen using two of Sarah’s images with spectacular results. The screen is a completely exclusive, one-off, individual piece of furniture. The Unique Seat Company are now working on re-upholstering an antique chair with another of Sarah’s images which they hope to have completed within the next few months.
